After working as an RN for 26 years, I switched careers – but not my medical focus. Being a Massage Therapist with Houk Chiropractic, I can provide healing care without the potential downside of pain meds. Here at Houk Clinic there is truly a team effort between the Chiropractors, the Massage Therapists and the staff to restore our patients to health.
Shawn has been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 20 years. Shawn started out studying to be an Occupational Therapy Assistant; but switched to Massage Therapy after moving back to Coeur d’ Alene, ID. She graduated from American Institute of Clinical Massage December 1998 and started working with Hayden Lake Chiropractic right out of school. After moving to Spokane, WA she went to work at Spa Paradiso (when they were still in the basement of the Bank of America building). As her family grew; Shawn quit working at Spa Paradiso and opened her own On-Site Chair massage business; touch n’ go On-Site Massage Therapy so she could set her own hours and be there for her family. As her family grew up and needed her less she decided to close her chair massage business and came back to clinical work. Shawn has worked at both Houk locations; starting at the North Pointe office Dec 2016 and moving to the Monroe office July 2016 to the present day. Shawn loves working with the Chiropractors and helping patients to feel better through massage therapy. In her off time she likes to spend time outdoors with her family and her beloved Basset Hound Eyore. Also likes to ride her Yamaha 125 dirt bike up in the mountains and back trails.
Hi, I’m Greg and this is my story. As I was finishing College, out of the blue I developed chronic upper back pain. That is where it all started. I started doing everything I could to cure this chronic pain. It was my life’s mission. After being diagnosed with muscle imbalances I knew there was a solution. I started researching books on pain. I became a Personal Trainer to further my knowledge. I’m now certified in personal training as a corrective exercise specialist and behavior change specialist. A few years ago I started receiving massages on a regular basis. It helped me so much that I’ve used my knowledge as a Personal Trainer, my own personal experience in pain and the results of massage to help my patients. Balancing the body is my mission. I can find “the spot” that hurts so good with anyone who lays on my table.
Kad is a Licensed Massage Therapist with over 10 years experience working with sports related injuries. Being an athlete himself, he believes in the benefits of massage to help keep the body moving like it should. When clients finish a session with Kad they usually noticed mobility that they did not know was missing and they have a better mind & body connection to help them understand how limitations have developed over time and not overnight.
Kad takes an informed and evidence based approach with his practice; to ensure that his treatments are well rounded and functional for each client. His approach to treatment involves a full intake assessment to identify any conditions so that he is better able to treat his clients and focus on their specific and individual needs. Kad focuses on the prevention, rehabilitation and maintenance of those conditions and injuries as well as the relaxation and education of his clients. He offers home care plans that are individualized to each client to ensure that each of his clients can find relief at home as well as in the clinic.
